If you are looking for an obituary, this site may be very helpful. Before you go to the Obituary Daily Times site, though, you should read this description of what the site can and cannot do for you and your genealogical research The site is an index. When interested individuals or genealogical groups submit an item, the following information about a person is sent:
- Name
- Age
- Place of birth (if different from province, state or county of death)
- Place of death
- Abbreviated name of the newspaper containing the obituary
- Date of the issue containing the obituary
- The "tagname" of the person making the submission. For the Roots Group of the South Peace Historical Society, that tagname is "neils"
- The Obituary Daily Times search site currently has a database of nearly 5.5 million
- entries indexing obituaries taken from various newspapers -- mainly in Canada and the United States. Just over 6,000 of those entries have been taken from the Peace River Block News, published in Dawson Creek, BC, Canada. These cover the full publishing life of the newspaper from its initial issue in May 1930 to the present.
When you go to the Obituary Daily Times site, you will have to fill out a simple search form. Here's an example of how to fill in the search request:
